Creative Spotlight: The Head

Its not often that I use the word quirky to describe something, but I feel that now is an appropriate time as any to expand my vocabulary landscape because that's exactly what describes The Head by Matias Vigliano and Dante Zaballa.

The Head's quirky charm lies most heavily on its hand-drawn animated style and usage of an olde tyme musical score (courtesy of Ariel Gandolfo), but the real star of the short for me are the beautifully composed watercolor backgrounds. Vigliano's fine level of detail and subdued stippling technique is superbly complemented by Zaballa's off-kilter and organic animation. Well worth the two minutes or so run time for a quick break from reality.
