(Re)Animations: Teen Wolf

Seriously? How could I not have known about this, an animated series based on the 1985 film Teen Wolf? Simply incredible.

Lasting 2 seasons and a full 21 episodes, Teen Wolf (aka The Cartoon Adventures of Teen Wolf in the UK) was based on the live-action film released the year prior and continued the story of young Scott Howard as he tackled the metaphorical truths of high school puberty. Set in the town of Wolverton, the series expanded somewhat upon Scott's supporting cast of friends and family including Grandpa and Grandma Howard who immigrated from Transylvania.

And would you check out that totally retro intro sequence?! They sure don't make them like they used to. It's too bad that the production company, Southern Star, went belly up or who knows what other gems may have been released. Though, the fact that they're also the same studio responsible for the CBS Saturday Storybreak sequence makes perfect sense.

Nostalgically speechless, maybe? Or speechlessly nostalgic?

Now I can finally say that my life has closure. Still can't get past that intro, haha. Love it!

  1. Also, I'm trying to come up with a unique name for a comic label. I really love Eight Legged Organism (DAMN YOUR TALENTED GENIUS OF A MIND!!) and the way it rolls off the tongue is just beautiful to me; not to mention catchy. I've working on a lot of new things and my direction with Victor and Boris just keeps evolving. I think that's why I haven't put anything up just yet. I'm still trying to narrow down exactly WHAT is going on ya know? Anyways, I'm going insane trying to come up with ideas. You're so freakin good at coming up with names that I thought I'd ask your opinion/advice on some. Since a lot of the comics I'm focusing on deal with childhood nostalgia (Saturday morning cartoons, films, etc) and a hefty amount of the macabre I'm going for something quirky and playful ya know? The names you've come up with are just so darn great: Lonesome After Midnight, Ghostlab, Eight Legged Organism, Strange Kids Club. The list just goes and goes. I need to send you the new stuff I've been working on so you can get a good idea/feel for what I'm talking about I guess.

Some names I have been messing with are (with or without the inclusion of the word COMICS):

    1.Giant Moth
2.Saturday Afternoon (wanna work in that POPCORN FLICK somewhere in there but can't figure out a snazzy procedure in doing so).
    3. Creeping Flesh
    4. Ocular Virus
    5. Slithering Staircase Comics
    6. Haunted Closet Comics
    7. Saturday Popcorn Comics

YADDA YADDA YADDA...as you can see I'm just not hitting the nail on the head. When it comes to music I can crank out a name instantly, but anything else it takes me a while. If you see any potential/have any ideas man I'd love to hear them if you have the time. A lot of those names I just typed out without thinking much about so if they're really retarded sounding that's why. Anywhooter, hope you're having a great day man. I'll give ya a call soon. We gots to discuss our next Draw-Off Dreadful

Stop it, I'm blushing. Don't know about genius, though. Evil mastermin? Perhaps.

I'm excited to hear about you going out on a limb with the comic idea. Those are some wild names you have there, I can definitely see where you're going. Here's a few humble suggestions:

Saturday Morning Cereal Moth (cool, huh?)
Haunted Closet Comics (I liked that one)
    Entertaining Ocular Overload
    The Graphite Graveyard

...that's all I got for the moment. I'll keep mulling it over.

  1. I. LOVE. THEM.

Haunted Closet Comics is definitely one I'm proud of. Saturday Morning Cereal Moth is freakin awesome too! The Graphite Graveyard is classy and superb as well. Lordy. I'm loving them so far! Thanks so much for taking the time and brain energy to think of some stuff.

I used to watch this show all the time. It was one of my favorites. I wish they would release them on DVD.
I remember one episode Scott, Stiles, and Boof were off in the big city and they met some 'scary punk rockers'. But once they got to know them, they realized that punks are people too. Then they were all friends and hung out together (for that episode anyway).

@Belle Dee: Welcome to the clubhouse Dee, it's always nice to see a new face hanging around. :)

I can't remember that exact episode, but it sounds about right. Pure TV Americana propaganda, gotta love it. And yes, they soooo need to release this series on DVD.

I loved this cartoon. I watched it every week. It's pathetic they haven't released it on DVD here in the States yet Australia gets a complete series DVD (WTF?!)!! The only thing we get here in Region 1 are two VHS tapes with like 4 episodes.

Great, great cartoon. And yes, that intro and song are awesome.
