Scott Pilgrim vs The World

An epic of epic epicness.

Originally created by comic book writer/artist Brian Lee O'Malley, Scott Pilgrim is a series of black and white graphic novels that tells of the titular 23 year old Canadian slacker's epic battle to win the heart of a girl named Ramona V. Flowers by defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends.

Pilgrim, played by actor Michael Cera, is your typical teenager who struggles with the everyday dramas of social life in his own unique fashion while trying to avoid his own mysterious "dark side." The film, which is directed by Edgar Wright of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz fame, takes its name from the second book by O'Malley entitled Scott Pilgrim vs The World, but seems to pull together threads from each book in the series.

Given the track record of both Cera and Edgar, I have little doubt that this film will be freaking phenomenal! It mixes the best of the action in Tarentino's Kill Bill (albeit with less blood) with cinematography of Gondry's Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and just a dash of comic book quirkiness for good measure. I know that I'll be crossing the threshold when the film drops on August 13. See you on the other side.
