Geek Shriek: SDCC '10 Footage of Eric Powell's 'The Goon'

Well my fellow strange kids... it would appear that this is going to be one of those weeks that's heavy on the "geek factor" thanks to Comic Con 2010 rolling into San Diego this week and though I unfortunately will not be there in person, you can bet that my finger is on the pulse of all things strange going down at the event.

Case in point: this teaser footage released this morning for Eric Powell's full-length animated film featuring that ever-lovable, zombie-stompin' thug: The Goon! As reported roughly over a year ago by the elusive creator it would seem that things are rolling full steam on the project with David Fincher (se7en, Fight Club) as producer and Paul Giamatti performing the voice of The Goon's "excitable" cohort, Frankie.

MTV promises to air the entire SDCC footage after The Goon panel on Friday, so stay tuned for that once the story breaks... and get your drooling bibs ready for maximum capacity!

That looks really cool. Being a San Diego native, I'm kind of bummed about the Hollywood glitz and glamour turn the 'Con has taken over the last few years. I remember going when Adam West was the biggest 'star.'

But I always geek out this time of year and talk to my buddies back in SD that go to get the 'scoop'.

That's cool. I've never been, so I haven't ever experienced the changed. I have heard several people mention B.O. being a problem with so many people in attendance. Still, I've always wanted to attend at least once.

SDCC, E3 and Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights have all been on my radar for some time now. I can't wait to see what other cool news comes out later this week...

Speaking of which, and despite my absence from the actual event, Strange Kid will be having some exclusive news announced on Thursday related to SDCC and a certain "bloody game."
