It was an almost bittersweet discovery this afternoon when I heard about this slick fan-made title sequence for the upcoming tv series The Walking Dead, based on the comic series. I mean, everything from how the comic book art was used to the moody, dust-bitten song "Fresh Blood" by The Eels that plays in the background is spot on to what I would have expected from the actual show.
In the words of the animator himself, Daniel M. Kanemoto, the sequence was animated "using artwork ripped from the pages of the comic, originally illustrated by Charlie Adlard and Tony Moore" and was done entirely "on spec"- in other words for free. Major props to Daniel on this piece of work, AMC should definitely throw a bone his way for generating some additional buzz on what's already looking to be a prime time juggernaut this Halloween.
The Walking Dead premieres on October 31st on AMC.
I saw this last night on G4 and fell in love. I'm not familiar with the show, but based off the intro, I'm definitely checking it out.
