The Haunted World of El Superbeasto

Not so much a creative spotlight since a final cut of the film isn't due to be released until later this month (limited theaterical release on September 12 with DVD released on September 22), but a preview of ghastly excitement as the epic struggle between a washed-up luchador named El Superbeasto and a horde of gruesome ghouls, monsters and creeps comes to fruition.

The film, based on Zombie's International Spookshow comic, has been in the works for some time and based on the footage I've seen it seems to carry much more of the pulsating, bloody heart of Rob Zombie than other recent efforts. It features a calvacade of creeps that include: Rosario Dawson, Danny Trejo, Dee Wallace, Sherri Moon Zombie, Sid Haig, and Bill Moseley. Oh, did I mention that Paul Giamatti plays the Devil? Yeah.

  1. I had heard this was bad, but MAN!!! After about five minutes of inane dialogue and unneccessary tits and ass I felt like snapping the disc in half

This was SUCH a disappointment. After months of eagerly awaiting its release I literally ran to the store during my lunch break the day it was released only to be severely let down.

Since then I've been able to watch it with modest interest while I'm working, you know for ambiance, but never on its own merit. Shame really.
