Do the 'Monster Christmas Mash' and Get Down with Your Jolly Self

We're all pretty familiar with Bobby "Boris" Pickett's infamous album, Monster Mash. It makes sense the monsters would have much to celebrate during Halloween, but what do they do during Christmas? Apparently, if this 70s album release by Peter Pan Records is any indication, they still like to boogie down.

Full of such holly jolly jingles as "The Reason for Treason" and "The Creep Castle Chorus, Marching Band & Dissecting Society," Monster Christmas Mash is more of a fun collection of short skits and spoken word lyrics than it is actual music but it's nonetheless enjoyable listening to Igor and his Master debate the need for being good on Christmas eve or Dracula singing Jingle "Blahs" [Bells].

Head Games: Splatterhouse (2010)

"You've got red on you."

With an epic quest that began a little over a decade ago, the King of Carnage has returned to us in better shape than ever in a blood-drenched redux driven by revenge, ultra-violence and a whole lot of badassery. Full of abhorred mutations from another dimension and a mask with questionable (but very helpful) intentions, Splatterhouse begins as it typically does... with Rick Taylor reborn in blood and fueled by hate thanks to the mysterious Terror Mask.

Of course, one of the many things this new version of Splatterhouse does well is provide a plethora of more background information than previous entries in the franchise, essentially combining the storylines of all three games into a singular mythology.

Aidan's Monsters: An Interview w/ Aidan's Dad, Wiley Reed

A week or so ago I mentioned a touching story that had been floating around the internets about a 5-year old boy who had been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. That boy's name was Aidan and despite his condition he and his family have managed to turn is love of monsters, clowns and all things scary into a source of empowerment.

Thanks to the love and support of family, friends and even total strangers Aidan's Monsters has been able to raise not only a source of supplemental income for the Reed's, but a few eyebrows as well. Recently, Aidan's father Wiley was kind enough to answers a few questions about Aidan and his fascination with costumes, clowns and all things creepy. 

To begin could you tell us a bit about Aidan and his condition?

Aidan is a funny and goofy guy who is sometimes shy beyond belief and at other times outgoing and animated; his personality has many contrasts. ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) is the most common form of Leukemia for children and in a nutshell it prevents his blood from functioning properly.

'Me and My Monsters' offers A Triple Dose of 'My Pet Monster'

Just to reaffirm how much cooler television is across the pond, BBC (more specifically their children division CBBC) has released a trailer for its newest show being co-produced by none other than The Jim Henson Company and Sticky Pictures: Me and My Monsters. A live action series about a family called The Carlsons, Me and My Monsters features "three out of control and hilarious monsters" (Norman, Fiend and Haggis) who have taken residence in their basement.

According to Henson's official press release,

It's a comedy that hinges on the relationship between the young boy in the family and the monsters. It's very visual and it's got that Henson look...

For my money it's got a sort of a My Pet Monster vibe to it combined with Henson's previous sitcom, Aliens in the Family. Having only recently premiered this past October chances are that it will be sometime before the series makes its way to our shores, but you can be sure it'll be one I keep my eye on.
